kinda long-winded
ducks management sucks! they traded federov and a fifth round draft pick yesterday, in what can only be described as an extremely blatant salary dump, for two nobodies. hello?!?! it's federov!! who are these two players? NOBODIES! puhleeeeeeeze. my chairman and i were quite upset because we could have kept rucchin AND leclerc AND had money to burn if the ducks traded federov at the beginning of the season!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!on to other things... i very much dislike eating out with friends who short their portion of the bill but do so in a manner that makes you agree to the shortage. make sense? let me explain further... twice i've been to eat with a new friend from school who, at the time of the bill, waits until i put down my cash, then puts down his. here's the tricky part... he'll ask, "do you need anything back?" and i'll, say, "no, i'm good" to avoid being seen as anal or greedy, especially since it's only $1, $2 or $3 that i'd need back. last night, the bill was: salad 9.50, burger 8-add bacon 1.50, lemonade 2.25, fries 1.45. i only had the salad. i put down 15 and the total bill was 24 and change... tax was ~1.70 so that would mean that each person adds ~2.50 to their bill for tax and tip, right? my total would be $12 and his total would be $15.20. WELL, i'm the one who put down 15 and he put down 12. whaaaa??? i just paid for him to have bacon on his burger and for part of his lemonade? i'm allergic to lemonade!
had quite a few discussions on AIM yesterday about dating, specifically, who should pay for what and when. i'm talking strictly dating, not when you're actually in a boyfriend/girlfriend relationship. i've always thought that if a guy asks a girl out, he's pursuing her. even though a girl should be able to pay for herself, the guy has to prove that he's no slouch, especially on the first date. i believe in "the reach" but would hope the guy wouldn't actually let me pay for him and i'd definitely buy the coffee, ice cream, or the snacks at the movie theatre. i've had varying responses... one guy said the same thing, one guy said that the girl should always pay to prove she's not a gold-digger, another guy said that he would pay for the first date but then expect the girl to carry her weight for any subsequent date, another guy said he would pay but would like to see "the reach," another guy said that he would pay for dinner but would hope for the girl to pick up the after dinner tab (e.g. coffee, ice cream, etc.), and yet another guy said that he would never let a girl pay. is there a right way and a wrong way?

Actually the Ducks traded Feds and a 5th rounder for two no-namers. My bad, I had it wrong the first time. Duck season isn't over, but they surely dismantled that team. I heard Sykora or Ozo is next.
As for paying, of course I would pay on the first date, but it'd be nice to see if the girl pays for something, even its just for a drink or something.
ha! i can now comment! sorry about federov - that sucks. who's this guy? how come i don't know about him?
ooooh... joesan, you're right. my boss and i thought it was the other way. still a sucky thing.
lightning... that's all i gotta say about federov. the guy was with the ducks for two seasons.
i find that i force my payment especially if i just wanna stay friends with the guy and want to make that clear. but i'll actually let him pay if i do like him. but then.. i'm not entirely consistent on that.
What's with the redecorating? In a dark mood?
The girl should at least do the reach. Only one girl failed so far and I was actually pretty surprised.
dunno dex... it's winter!
whoa, i like the revamp. sometimes we all need a new look. and i like all the links. what happened to your pix links tho?
hi dana! that sucks about the paying thing. maybe next time you go out with your friend, have that person pay first and you pay the leftovers =)...or...just be honest and say you do need change. hope you're having a HAPPY MONDAY! =D
hi noreen!! i know... i should just tell my friend i need change. sometimes i feel like that's petty though!
