an inconvenient truth
it's true. it is an inconvenient truth, to know what we are doing to our environment. the weather we're experiencing is not unexpected given our huge contributions to global warming. we all know about the greenhouse effect. we all know that the environment is going down the tubes but do we know the rate and extent to which the deteriorating is occurring? are you aware that at the rate that ice caps are melting, within OUR lifetime, all of our coasts could be 20 feet under water? imagine losing places such as venice, italy. the warming of our oceans has a direct effect and influence on the velocity and frequency of hurricanes. imagine more katrinas... but worse.
did you know that more and more polar bears are dying because they drown trying to swim to the nearest ice cap? researchers were startled to find bears having to swim up to 60 miles across open sea to find food. they are being forced into the long voyages because the ice floes from which they feed are melting, becoming smaller and drifting farther apart. although polar bears are strong swimmers, they are adapted for swimming close to the shore. their sea journeys leave them them vulnerable to exhaustion, hypothermia or being swamped by waves.
i highly recommend that you read an inconvenient truth. i hope that you will be astonished and a new type of awareness will emerge.
