9/11 specials
i watched a 9/11 special last night... one of the many that were on. i can't believe it's been 5 years since the attack. it seems like just yesterday. i don't think i can begin to comprehend even a fraction of the horror that people faced in NY, at the Pentagon, and for everyone on the planes. it gives me chills to watch the little specks of what seemed like rubble falling from the towers, when in fact, the little specks were people.like most people, i remember exactly where i was, in my apartment getting ready for work when my boss called and said to stay home and to turn on the tv. i remember i was still in my PJs. i sat in front of the t.v. for the rest of the day. seeing the 2nd plane hit the 2nd tower made my heart drop. then came the Pentagon, the plane in PA, and the towers collapsing. i'd never felt such a heavy sense of dread before.
my parents, who were in china at the time, didn't even know about what was happening until the next day when a taxi driver asked if they were american. when they said yes, he kept saying sorry and made hand motions of something crashing and saying "big boom."
it was a unimagineable day and one that no one will forget. how could we?
