you learn something new every day

i got the chance to hangout with one of my favorite people. it was awesome and we will definitely do that, again!

oh, so, i had two people poking around "down there." my annual gyn exam was this morning. let me tell you, it ain't fun. i absolutely love my doctor but not what she has to do. then, in the afternoon, i had the first in my series of laser treatments for the bikini area. i was a bit nervous but all went well. whew.

it's going to be a long weekend and it'll be fun!!! i'm a little nervous because the guy i'm "seeing," let's call him george, is meeting my coworkers. i get to see him quite a bit this weekend which is very cool. bbq's and relaxation galore!

have a great 4th!

pissed off

i am truly pissed off right now.

i had just free-loaded a drink off my brother (he was working today) for myself and for my roommate, dropped my roommate's drink off at her work, and then happened to notice that my car was in the midst of overheating. i've had this car for over 3 years and that temp gauge has never moved, not once, ever, not even the slightest millimeter.

just last week, i got my car back because the a/c was being fixed. they ended up replacing the a/c condenser and the radiator. said it would be just fine. um... it wasn't. the noise was still going on, it doesn't get as cold, and it makes this loud nasty rattling noise when i'm idling. if the a/c is off, no problem. well, i am now 10 days short of it being 7 months since my accident, and my car is STILL not fixed! UN-FRICKIN-BELIEVABLE!!!!!!!!!

avoiding "games"

are playing games inevitable when you're dating?

i hate waiting but i don't want to go overboard. so, i wait.

this is hilarious

i know it's only monday but...

i can't wait for my weekend! it's gonna be great. a 5 day weekend. woohoo!!!!!!!!!!! i already have plans to relax, go to a bbq, and watch movies. yay! :)

small things

watching someone get excited over the small things in life, is really fun.

this weekend was busy! i was in the valley to visit my parents on friday. saturday morning, i picked up sprinkles cupcakes (YUM!) for the baby shower i hosted for my best friend. the shower actually went really well and time passed very quickly. watched x-men 3 in the evening (would have watched da vinci code but someone is old and couldn't stay up that late). sunday, slept in, finally! and it was oh, so nice! worked out for a while, met up with a friend at south coast, and then someone made me dinner. overall, a very good weekend.

exclusivity. it's clearly defined if a couple makes the decision to be boyfriend/girlfriend. what if you're at the beginning of a potential relationship? only dating, seeing where things are going, taking it slow... can there be such a thing as exclusivity? dating without juggling and no swapping spit with more than one person at a time? or does this take away from the k.i.s.s. factor (keep it simple, stupid!)? .99% of me would be unable to continue seeing a guy who was simultaneously dating other women and .01% of me thinks i could if i liked the guy well enough. is it bad to ask a guy to let you know, as a kind of courtesy, if he wants to date/kiss other women?

patience

who ever said patience is a virtue is absolutely right! my patience was called into question and i am not a very patient girl. i usually do not wait for something because to me, it's a waste of time. however, cicely made me realize that, in certain instances and especially this one, patience allows things to go at a moderate pace and alleviates unnecessary pressure.

so, i waited...

and after what seemed like forever and 25 days (in actuality, only 1.5 days), my waiting was rewarded at 10:05 pm, last night. yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!!!!

thanks, cicely!

YAY!

i didn't fail my accounting final! there will be no repeating managerial accounting for me! this is awesomely awesome!

sleepy

i passed by a cement truck this morning, whose catch phrase was written on the side, and it said, "no job is to hard."

last night, i drove home at 2:20 am. the drive was incredibly short but i was incredibly tired. now, this morning, i'm even more tired and coffee is not helping.

must... take... nap.

i have to go out to corona and then i am going to be a student speaker for uci's gsm information session in corona. oh, oops, excuse me, uci's paul merage school of business. that should be over by 8:30 and then it's back to irvine for some much needed sleep. i was thinking of working out tonight but i don't know. i may be too sleepy. at least i worked out last night.

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

trust your gut

please, tell me that i am not the only one who hesitates to follow their feelings rather than their mind. it's a constant struggle and in the past, it has messed up a lot of things.

i am currently in the position where i need to trust my feelings and instincts. i want to, very much. it's just that darn sneaky mind of mine meddles with my feelings and makes me doubt my instincts. granted, this isn't in every situation, just this particular one. i am trying not to over analyze things and to take them as they come, trying, being the key word. i am happy about this situation, more than i've ever initially been before. it's a little nerve-wracking.

here's to following your instincts.

rumors

rumors spread like wild fires, they can be viscious, they spring out of nowhere, and they will continue to grow as much as the next person's imagination will let them. generally, people know this and yet, still buy into rumors. do you give credence to rumors? is it true that there's an ounce of truth to every rumor? i do not believe so.

dating: is coffee the new dinner?

it would seem that the trend is to first get coffee with a person you're potentially interested in dating rather than going out to dinner. not just that, but at a time where you could easily say, "well, I have an early day at work tomorrow so I should go."

i like coffee. :) the only thing is that i must remember to not drink it quite so late at night because i can't fall asleep for a veeeeery long time.

oh, and... mariners swept the angels. YAY!

i guess...

last night, i had a team meeting that was super duper long... 5:30 to 9:15, to be exact. we filmed our presentation for tonight's class. do people not realize that when someone makes a comment, that someone can still see the expression on your face? don't be a jerk. don't give a weird look to another teammate and make the person that said the comment feel like an absolute heel for even trying to help. oh, and when you ignore someone, you don't have to be SO entirely obvious about it.

after the meeting, i went home, did 30 minutes of taebo and then watched "so you think you can dance." thank you, dalisa, for setting it up on DVR to record all the shows! one chick wrote all over herself to give herself confidence. well, she should have spellchecked before inking herself. she wrote "were did you go?" to ask herself where she went during the competition because she knows she's better than that.

paris hilton... her new song isn't that bad but her video sure is!

unrecognizable?

i almost forgot this happened but my boss likes to repeat stories so i remembered.

my boss comes in this morning and says, "you're so busted!" and i was in a bit of a panic thinking, what could i have possibly done wrong?? he said one of the parents showed him a group photo from my coworker's wedding so i thought, huh? i didn't do anything weird at the wedding, let alone in the pictures.

he said the conversation went something like this...

parent: did you get to see the pictures from the wedding?
boss: no! let me see!
~parent shows him~
boss: who is that asian girl with bruce lee?
parent: that's dana & her date!
boss: that's dana? no way!!

apparently, he thinks i'm unrecognizable in that picture. now he claims that i'm busted since he knows i can look nicer than my usually bummy self. his new idea is that i come in to work looking that nice, every day. NOT! oh, and since when does aaron look like bruce lee?

so sweet

a guy whom i find to be genuinely good, a guy whose chocolate brown eyes i could stare at for hours, said that i looked beautiful on saturday. ~sigh~ <--- that's a good sigh. :)

is optimism overrated?

is there such a thing as being overly optimistic about a situation, thing, person, etc?

i am not an overly optimistic person but should i be? i know we should all look at the bright side but if we continue to look at the bright side for too long, don't we become blinded? if we're too optimistic about a situation and the situation doesn't live up to our overly optimistic expectations then doesn't the let-down feel like a ton of bricks fell on us?

yes, it could be a learning experience but how many "experiences" do you need if these experiences are all of the same nature? of course, if i were faced with a similar situation, i could go in the opposite direction i had gone before but if i did that, couldn't i potentially be missing out on something?

i start to think about the two sides of which ever situation i am faced with and automatically lean toward the negative. then of course, it's constantly vacillating between the positive and the negative... the hope and the squashing of hope. so then, the question is: am i being fair to myself?

this is for francia. :)

A.A.A.D.D.

Recently, I was diagnosed with A.A.A.D.D.: Age-Activated Attention Deficit Disorder: This is how it manifests itself:

I decide to water my garden. As I turn on the hose in the driveway, I look over at my car and decide my car needs washing. As I start toward the garage, I notice that there is mail on the porch table that I brought up from the mailbox earlier.

I decide to go through the mail before I wash the car. I lay my car keys down on the table, put the junk mail in the garbage can under the table, and notice that the can is full. So, I decide to put the bills back on the table and take out the garbage first. But then I think, Since I’m going to be near the mailbox when I take out the garbage anyway, I may as well pay the bills first. I take my checkbook off the table, and see that there is only one check left.

My extra checks are in my desk in the study, so I go inside the house to my desk where I find the can of Pepsi that I had been drinking. I’m going to look for my checks, but first I need to push the Pepsi aside so that I don’t accidentally knock it over. I see that the Pepsi is getting warm, and I decide I should put it in the refrigerator to keep it cold.

As I head toward the kitchen with the Pepsi, a vase of flowers on the counter catches my eye – they need to be watered. I set the Pepsi down on the counter, and I discover my reading glasses that I’ve been searching for all morning. I decide I better put them back on my desk, but first I’m going to water the flowers. I set the glasses back down on the counter, fill the container with water, and suddenly I spot the TV remote. Someone left it on the kitchen table.

I realize that tonight when we go to watch TV, I will be looking for the remote, but I won’t remember that it’s on the kitchen table, so I decide to put it back in the den where it belongs, but first I’ll water the flowers. I pour some water in the flowers, but quite a bit of it spills on the floor. So, I set the remote back down on the table, get some towels, and wipe up the spill. Then I head down the hall trying to remember what I was planning to do.

At the end of the day: The car isn’t washed, the bills aren’t paid, there is a warm can of Pepsi sitting on the counter, the flowers don’t have enough water, there is still only one check in my checkbook, I can’t find the remote, I can’t find my glasses, and I don’t remember what I did with the car keys.

Then when I try to figure out why nothing got done today, I’m really baffled because I know I was busy all day long, and I’m really tired. I realize this is a serious problem, and I’ll try to get some help for it, but first I’ll check my e-mail.
