planned yet random weekend
i went to vegas this weekend!mina picked me up friday night, and we went to her place to freshen up and head out. we decided on cathouse because the last time i was here, we didn't get to eat dinner there, only red velvet cake. so this time, we were going to eat dinner AND eat red velvet cake. we valet and the guy asks if we're going to LAX, and we said, "no, we're going to cathouse!" and he says, "oh... that place is closed. the 2nd floor was falling in so they won't be open for another 4-6 weeks." we were so bummed because we were so set on having that! ok, so that was STRIKE ONE!
we were trying to think of where to go next... then mina says, let's go to the palazzo to have crepes, and i say ok! now we're settled on what to do. it's obvious we had dessert on our minds! well, we get to the crepes place, mina orders, and the guy says, "we don't make crepes after 10 pm." it was 10:30. WHAT?!?! it's VEGAS! nothing is supposed to close early!!! that was STRIKE TWO! we went to a bunch of different restaurants, and we either didn't see any dessert we liked or the places that did have potential dessert were closed!
we were all bummed so we walked toward the venetian shops, and came to this italian restaurant, canaletto. we looked at the menu, and mina said, "ok! let's eat here!" we had some chocolate mousse thing and zabaglioni. the zabaglioni was YUM! while we were there we realized that the time was close to 12 am so we could eat meat soon. we thought about it, and wanted pinks hot dogs with chili. well, we couldn't figure where it was so we called jay but he didn't answer his phone. then we call dorothy but she didn't know. then we called my roommate and he told us it was in planet hollywood, and he gives us the number. well, as it would turn out, they closed pinks, and their hot dogs are only offered through room service. STRIKE THREE!!! then mina suggests raffles because she knows that place is open for sure. we drove back over to mandalay bay, and what's funny is that freaking mina says as we drive up "watch, it's full." wouldn't you know it was full!!! (there was a fight at mandalay that night). STRIKE FOUR!!!
we end up valeting on the other side of the casino, and as we're walking in, this short little guy introduces himself as joe, and asks if we want to go to mix. he said he'd get us in for free, and there'd be no waiting. we looked at each other, shrugged, and said, "sure." as we're riding up the elevator (it's on the 61st floor), this really tall guy is in there, and mina and i both thought he was either the elevator man or a tour guide to these foreigners that were in the elevator with us. turns out, he was just a guy going to mix. he (william) ended up buying us drinks while we were there. the crowd at mix is older, and a little weird. anyway, as we're dancing he comes over and says he's going to LAX, and asks if we want to go, too. we shrugged, and said, sure! we got in easily enough and got free drinks, again (sweet!) b/c his friend is a manager there. we ended up dancing until a little after 3.
then... we decide to finally go to raffles, and we decide to rest our feet for a minute. while we're sitting a girl approached mina. turns out, they went to h.s. together. apparently, mina looks the same now as she did when she was 18.
we were going to wake up at 8 am to go down to primm to shop. well, we... or actually i, didn't wake up until later. we got ready, ate at nordstrom cafe (yummy!), and then went shopping at the mall. sunday we ended up going to primm but we were late that morning, too... i didn't get up 'til later.
what a greeeeeeeeeeat weekend!!! if i could have more like this, that would be awesome!
