rice and beans?

go sox! one more game and that's it!

last night i volunteered for the ocfa explorer awards dinner. it was ok. everyone liked the centerpieces i made so that was cool. another volunteer and i helped out with setting up and then we helped serve the food. i was the rice and bean girl. mexican food at a hawaiian themed dinner. weird. anyway, dude, how many times can a girl ask "rice and beans?" i felt like a broken record. ooooh, so i saw Mike, a firefighter i hadn't seen in a few months. he came with his girlfriend. my friend was mean because she asked, "who's that girl with him?" and I said, "oh, that's his girlfriend." She got the weirdest look on her face and she said, "what?! she's haggard lookin!" I guess she said it because the girlfriend looked quite a bit older than Mike. What can ya do, right? If you like someone, you like someone.

it was POURING when i left the apartment this morning. i stood on the porch thinking "oh boy" because my umbrella was at work. didn't get too drenched. got to drive by the storm channel too... way full and goin really fast but cool to watch (to me anyway).

got me some free coffee from nomar today. seriously gotta figure out a gift to get him by saturday. i think he's saved me over $100 in 2 months.

utterly annoying

I don't know what it is but I always seem to get annoyed with my brother whether it be him fixing the dvd that is skipping or him telling me to do a h.w. problem for him. It could be anything and I think I'd get annoyed with him and I don't bother to mask that annoyance. I would overlook all this stuff were it with a friend. Heck it probably wouldn't bug if it were a friend, but because it's my brother, what? I trip and get all witchy with a "b"? I don't get it!! Is it because I live with him? I feel obligated to live with him now and that's not a good thing.

Go Sox!

oh well...

I lost. I didn't think I would but I did. I had a super difficult afternoon at work and was feeling super crappy so I caved. I had a super huge french vanilla with triple oreo coldstone waffle bowl and then all was right in the world. I texted Aaron and let him know that he won and figured it was worth the 10 cents to find out so he better not complain about my texting him 'cause it costs money. Which reminds me, I need to remember to ask Glenn for the $20 I lent him way back when at the dodger game.

Tonight I went to Pheleah's birthday shindig at the Block, D&B. How many times can people ask, "So why aren't you with anyone yet?" Um... I don't know, I'm just not? As if I have an answer to that. Jeez people. Back the heck off.

oops

Go Sox! I'm so glad they smashed those Yankees. The only problem is that I missed watching the game. I was supposed to go home and take a nap and then go to the gym to watch the second half of the game. The only problem was that my nap ended this morning at 5. whoops!

gloomy

I sooooo didn't want to get out of bed this morning. It was super duper dark when I woke up at 6 and it was so nice and toasty under my blanket. It's dark and gloomy outside right now. It's almost 9 am and it looks like it does when I leave the apartment at 6:45. El Nino may be good for snow in the mountains but it sucks major booty here. Good thing I have waterproof eyeliner otherwise it'd be running down my face because of the rain. I left my umbrella at work by accident and it was pouring this morning.

My dad told me that I should not pay for anything of Chad's, to just cut him off and if he falls, I have to let him. He thinks that is the only way Chad will really learn. I told my Dad that I couldn't do that when it came to rent because, he-llooo... Chris and I are on the lease too. Chad isn't talking to me. I guess I'll just chill about that.

Today is not a day for working. Today is a day for relaxing and sleeping.

oops

I realized that my previous post started out in a redundant manner... i studied at Barnes & Noble...to study. yea, well, DUH. I was chatting with a friend and I asked him how something was going and he said, "alright." I was being pesky so I asked if that meant things could be worse but they could be better and he said yes. Isn't it weird how we are all so vague about how we express how we are doing...even to good friends? You know what bugs? I do this too sometimes but I make an effort not to. When someone asks, "How are you?" you're supposed to reply with "I'm well" (abbreviated version being "well") or "I'm not well" (abbreviated version being "not well"). BUT, most people say... "I'm good." That's wrong!!!

I'm sitting in my office colder than cold AND I'm wearing a sweatshirt. They gotta fix these heaters. Plus it doesn't help that one of my "walls" is a window and it's cold outside.

gross

Last night I studied at Barnes & Noble in Metro Point to study for my lovely GMAT (totally hating the Geometry section). Dude, I went to the restroom and it was NASTY. Someone had taken a dump on the back of the toilet. How do you miss the toilet when you're taking a dump yo?! I couldn't believe that, in a girl's restroom, no less! What's WORSE is that the girl didn't even have the decency to wipe it off!! Even guys sit down when they take dumps so what the heck was goin on there?

There's so much work but lately I haven't wanted to do it. Must be because it's been so gloooooooooomy.

Once again... I should have spent $7.20 so far on coffee this week but I've only spent $1... that's right folks, ONE DOLLAR!! I gotta find something to give to Nomar for Halloween but I don't know what!I SO wanted the old fashioned coffee cake this morning. Shucks, maybe next year.

Ooooooh... crease-toe-fur is ONE, just ONE typo away from owing me $5 from our AIM typo contest. yippeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

me mum

i just read an email from me mum. she was writing about how when she wants to write an email and she has the time to she can't because the computers are all taken so she "just gets pissed." it cracked me up. if you can imagine me mum she doesn't say that stuff so when i hear it or read it, it makes me laugh. the worst she's ever said was "s**t" and that was usually when the '68 mustang stalled at the bottom of our street.

had mimi's this morning. my brother takes FOREVER AND A DAY to get ready. seriously. when we were all up at 3 am this morning, he took a shower. then when we woke up a little after 9 he took another shower, a long one. oh, and he said it wouldn't take more than 2 times to wake him up and get him out of bed. liar. it took 4 times.

went to chick's to try to return two items i bought on 9/2. i forgot to return the items with moving and everything going on. they wouldn't let me return it. i had to get store credit. stupid really. theirs is only a 14 day return period. target's is 90! chicks's sucks. and it's more expensive than sports chalet. losers.

hmmm...

corona sucks! well, not really. it was ok being out there last thursday. thursday afternoon i had a meeting with the orange county fire authority/explorers. we were planning for their awards dinner that will take place in a week and a half. a volunteer, someone i know from Make A Wish Fdtn was there too. she's a flirty girl. probably 'cause she's lookin to bag a man. she was diggin on one of the firefighters. so funny because at the explorer games she was diggin on a lot of the firemen. she's straightforward and a gutsy girl though.

friday was decent. watched Friday Night Lights with Tracey and Eric and got really sick. the way they did it made tracey and i motion sick. blah. the woman next to me had popcorn with that crazy theatre butter smell and that made it worse. the movie itself was ok. parts i liked and the rest i just sat there thinking... oooooh-k. i got really tired driving home though so i called crease-toe-fur but then tammy called after a little and he had to give her directions. the little reflector bumps kept me awake for the most part.

tonight i went to dina's wedding. it was really nice! i felt kinda special to be invited because she didn't have many guests. there were only 10 dayzers there and we made up 10% of the guests. it was cool to see everyone. i hadn't seen them in a while. i got to catch up with eileen too which was cool. dina and jorge looked so happy together and that was cool to see. their wedding colors were pink and either silver or white but it was tasteful not overly pink like at Trista & Ryan's wedding. that was overboard. the only problem i had was that the wedding cake looked AND smelled SOOOOOO good. dexie and eileen were asking... is anybody here that knows about the bet? and i said no so they said they wouldn't tell but i still couldn't do it. i'd be lying and God would scold me somehow. instead i took a picture with a slice of cake. (the bet? that i could go without eating dessert for the rest of the year --cookies, ice cream, shakes, cake, cookies, candy, cookies, pastries, and did i mention cookies? the win? ducks hockey tickets!! the loss? dorky laker tickets)

it's 3:16 now and i still am not sleepy. i don't know why. i only had one small cup of coffee tonight. it is cold too. i was under my down blanket and my arms still had goosebumps. weird. cool tho 'cause chris and my brother are still up. you know what's weird? when i talk to people and i mention my brother, i always say "my brother" and not "chad" even though they know his name.

my tummy hurts. i think i might be hungry but i don't want to eat now. i'll eat breakfast later. gonna go to mimi's. yum yum. gonna get some bacon, sausage, eggs, and a buttermilk spice muffin. then i'm gonna make my brother get pancakes and i'm gonna steal a few bites. sounds really yummy.

care bear stare!

I emailed Dalisa and I just remembered that she had Grumpy Bear in her car the other day. Anyway, I woke up this morning with a weird looking crease on my cheek. Turns out I had rested my head on my arm right where my LiveStrong bracelet is. I got coffee this morning from that cool cat Nomar and he said... what's that on your face? Kinda funny. Nomar is really cool and he's always so sweet. This week I spent $3.50 on my grande non-fat caramel machiattos when in reality I should have spent $14.40. Nomar saves me BIG bucks. He even gave me a discount on my Starbucks hot cocoa powder mix. I'm going to get him a little halloween gift but I don't know what yet. I'll figure it out. Maybe some Sees Candy or something but I don't know if he likes that.

Last night was my first night back at the gym in almost 3 weeks. It was nice. It's amazing how much more quickly time goes by when you're there exercising with someone. Paul, Chad's friend went to the gym too but he got there 40 minutes after I did. We did cardio together and in no time 45 minutes had gone by. Crazy!

Today I get to go to Corona. Joy. I like talking with George, the general manager, because he's funny. Not outright funny but slyly sarcastic. It's funny to me anyway. Treg and Mike, not so much, because while we worked our differences out, I still feel guarded around them and I really have to watch what I say so they don't take it the wrong way. Sensitive guys.

I miss crease-toe-fur. I don't get to talk to him as much at night anymore. Granted, last week, I didn't want to talk with anyone but then these past couple days I haven't been able to talk to him 'cause he's on the phone. You should use an earpiece Chris.

younger "men"

Is it bad for me, a 25 year old (going on 26 in january) to be crushin on a younger "man"? I write the word man in quotes because I'm not sure if these younger guys are actually men or if they're young men pretending to be mature. If they are pretending, the truth will be found out soon enough, right? Is it worth it to even date that person? I dated someone who was considerably younger than me last year. I thought his maturity level was up there but later I found out I was mistaken. A friend said that I should have realized that given his age. But he was frontin! I was duped! I've gotten varying reactions about this... age doesn't matter... omigosh, cradle robber!...it's only 4 years... you have issues, etc. But really... does age matter? When I think about it... if they're on the same maturity level as I am (which isn't saying much) and if they have the same values and what not... what should stop me? Then a nagging voice enters my head and starts wiggin' about how the guy is younger than me, that being the sole issue, not that he could be a stalker, conceited or anything like that. I've been lyin to myself too! I've been crushin on this 21 year old but honestly, it's nothing major... just one of those light cuddly soft crushes that don't harm anyone and don't go anywhere. I just spoke with him on the phone and seriously, I got all shy. What the heck is that?! It's kinda funny, that's what it is!

What is the rule on giving out phone numbers?

Someone just asked for a friend's number and I said I didn't have it. But I do have it. It's just that the friend didn't want that person to have it. I think that's ok, right? I don't particularly want to get caught between two people's weirdness.

I think I get to go to vegas for cicely's birthday! My boss said I could miss the fundraiser we're holding that weekend. Well, we'll see. I emailed her today so hopefully she lets me go. I have been wanting to go for a while now. I especially want to stop by the Primm outlets. Gotta love those outlets. The only 3 stores I really go to are GAP, Banana Republic, and Coach but it's always worth it. Too bad I can't spend much money. I have to save it for when I go visit Andrew in Australia.

I want to become a CPA. I just don't know how. I've gotta ask around. Plus I heard the test sucks. GMAT first then that. Today seems to be going by quite slowly. Hurry up day! I want to get out of here!

"ketchup" time

Why do some people pronounce "catch up" as "ketchup"?

My boss is going to be out of town for the rest of the week! I just dropped him off at the airport and got to drive his Corvette back to the office. That surely is a nice car BUT it has a blind spot bigger than ... well, it's big. Today I have the lovely job of figuring out how we blew thru $130K in one month. I think the girl at the bank is hallucinating and she doesn't know how to operate the computers there and that's why our balances don't match.

Last night I got lazy and didn't do anything but sit my butt on a couch and watch t.v. Gilmore girls followed by One Tree Hill and last but not least... Law & Order SVU. I like SVU the best. Gilmore girls can get annoying because some of the people on that show are annoying. One Tree Hill is dra-a-ma and kind of stupid at times... make that most of the time.

Yesterday, I forked over $225 to take my GMAT in Dec. Studying for the GMAT is funny. It's like I'm going to take my SAT again or something. ACT was better! It's mostly algebra and trig. It's funny that this is for grad school and there's no calculus on the test. That's too bad.

It's funny and cool at the same time witnessing someone falling for someone else... but why do girls have to act weird though? I don't understand that. My friend said that the chick he digs told him there was some chick at her work that she thought he might like. Why would you do that?! Another friend did that to me once. She tried to hook me up with her unicorn tellin' me that we were so alike and we'd make such a good couple when she still liked him... a lot!! Sheesh girls! Get it straight! You're either interested or you're not... don't try to pawn off your man on someone else.

I miss my parents. They're far far away. I email them all the time and they usually email me back. Sometimes they're bad and they don't email me every day like they're supposed to. If I don't get an email for 3 days I start to get worried. Me mum says it's because of a delay. I dunno... all I know is that when I open my email and there's none from them I worry. I wish I had AOL so that I could hear the "You've Got Mail" like in the movie with Tom Hanks but I'm not about to pay when I have a free email account.

This blog thing is kinda cool. You get to vent and just ramble without worrying if you're talking too much or boring someone to tears. Andrew (I miss him too!!) says I ramble a lot and my emails are like novels. He's in the "down under" doin his thang... mostly getting squashed at work. I can't wait to visit him!!

turkey sandwiches

Why is it that turkey sandwiches are always so good when you buy them from a deli or anywhere outside of your home? It never seems to taste as good or look as good when you make it at home EVEN when it has the same ingredients on the dang thing. Gotta figure out a way to fix that.

Woe is me. The boss is back at the office. Too bad he couldn't just stay at the golf course today. He was, to say the least, quite upset with the p&l statement. Nothing to do with the job I've done... just that it was a bad month. He really sucks at using computers. His office is next to mine and he's swearing up a storm because he can never use his computer for one day without any problems. Trust me, these are minor problems. The other day he got really angry when something popped up on his screen and he yelled, "DANA, WHAT THE F*** IS WRONG WITH THIS F*****G COMPUTER?" You know what it was? He was trying to print and he had moved the margins so the pop up window came up asking if he wanted to continue printing even tho it was out of the margins. All he had to do was click on the "ok" button.

tonka trucks

remember tonka trucks? i don't know why i just thought of them. the tires smelled like candy. my brother, chad, and i used to sit there and sniff them. i should say "smell" not "sniff" because then it sounds like we got high off tonka truck tires. not so! tonka trucks were the best. you could really play with them and they wouldn't break the first instant you skid them across the floor. stupid pic 'n' save toys... broke after you opened the package.

Emerson

I just finished the profit & loss sheet for September (I know, I'm a little behind). Then I thought, whew... I'm done... what's my reward? It got me thinking... Am I the only one who had to read R.W. Emerson in H.S.? Anyway, words to live by...

"The reward of a thing well done, is to have done it."

-- Ralph Waldo Emerson.

Pretty basic, right? Then why do most people fail to understand that? As Caroline (The Apprentice) would say... "you fail, you fail to understand." But maybe not in so harsh a tone.

wah wah wah (like the teacher from Peanuts)

Amazingly enough, it was my father who suggested I keep a web journal. Kinda weird. I thought journals were personal. So why would I want to create a journal online where anybody and their mom can find it? Maybe because I won't give this out to my friends. That would suck though because I read their blogs almost daily. An insight to a weird mind? Maybe. Oh, how about an insight to an incredibly brilliant mind? Hardly. It sounded nice though.

I still call my father "Daddy." But I can't switch to "Dad" because it doesn't feel right and then when I was around 13 I told him that if I ever called him "Dad" it would mean I didn't like him. I'm probably the only one who remembers that but still... can't do it. I wonder if that makes me a "big baby" as Chris would say. Nah. Oh, can't leave out me mum. I call my mother "Mum" or "Mummy." Looking at that is funny. My mum doesn't look like a mummy. Ok, I'm probably the only one laughing... at least I crack myself up.
