GAP
ok, here's the deal. i realize i work in retail. i also realize that working in retail requires a certain amount of folding and straightening. HOWEVER, in no way do i believe it is necessary for people to just toss items about while looking for a size. if someone asks if he/she can get you a size while you're strewing things about, let him/her get it for you 'cause you're makin a mess! last night was my first shift at GAP. it went pretty well. for the most part, the girls that work there are nice but quite young. most are freshman/sophomores in college or still in high school. i have a busy weekend which is great. tomorrow, i get to have lunch with a friend that i haven't seen in a long time. he was actually my best friend's RA when we dormed. after that i get to go home, relax, and look at the thousands of tadpoles that have taken up residence in my parent's pool. not to say that my parents don't take care of the pool. it's just that in their absence, the pool goes a bit astray so they usually chlorine shock the heck out of it when they return. my parents are kind hearted though so they are going to wait it out until those tadpoles grow up and hop out of there. at work, a few of us were talking about rattlesnakes (i forget how we ended up on that topic). i had a few stories to contribute myself. one of which still gives me the willies. i think i was about 14 or so when i was outside messing with ant-lion holes. i know. it's weird, right? well, this is one of the things i used to do at home when i was bored. anyway, i sat down and thought, gosh, that was pretty squishy. i got up and looked down but didn't see anything at first. then i noticed that i had not sat on dirt but in fact on a little rattlesnake all coiled up. when you want to and even need to scream, it's funny that sometimes your voice fails you. my mom happened to be walking nearby and i caught her attention with my wildly flailing arms and finally choked out that i sat on a rattlesnake. she called my dad over and he killed it. woohoo! fun times in topanga folks!
who'd have thunk
thanks cicely for the link... i'm practically normal!"Your Brain is 60.00% Female, 40.00% Male
Your brain is a healthy mix of male and female. You are both sensitive and savvy.Rational and reasonable, you tend to keep level headed. But you also tend to wear your heart on your sleeve.http://www.blogthings.com/genderbrainquiz/this weekend was spent doing a lot of nothing. i thought i'd be working at GAP already but apparently i have to go through some more training. i guess i'll wait 'til they call and schedule me or maybe i'll pester them this week if they haven't called. well, i did read The Last Juror by John Grisham. it was decent.i thought about a lot of "stuff" this weekend. one thing being that i think i can be a difficult friend. i never would have thought that before but i think i might be. i know that you should never place expectations on friendships but somehow i have come to do that. i'm not even sure i can explain these expectations but i think they're there. what to do about them is a different story.ok, kelly clarkson isn't as bad as i thought. i didn't like her at first for some reason. it was probably because she was on american idol, won, is doing well with her career, and i'm a bit jealous. but listening to her songs on KIIS made me realize she wasn't that bad. then lisa bought her cd, i listened to it, and then bought it myself. there is one song on her album that really hits eerily home with me, maybe a little too close to home. regardless, i looked at who wrote the lyrics on that song and she did. as it would turn out, i gave her far less credit than she deserves. i admit, i was completely wrong; she is a very talented individual. it's a monday morning and it's not so bad. i woke up easily. Oh, and i am not too tired, thanks to some good ol' vanilla nut coffee.
GAP
ok, I am officially a sales associate at GAP. woohoo! I had training yesterday afternoon for 3 hours but then we still need to have go to another training session for the clothes styles and what not. I don't have to work this weekend which is cool. I can go home and see my parents since they're back. I found out I get a great discount! The thing is, they're really strict about discount abuse. Well, it's a good thing I'm limited to the amount of stuff I get a good discount on. This way, I shouldn't spend more than I make... hopefully. Did you know that if a child has been kidnapped, the first thing you should ask the mom, or whomever was with the child, what kind of shoes the kid is wearing? It makes sense... jackets, shirts, are really easy to change or put something over but shoes are difficult and take more time. I'm really nervous waiting to find out if I get into school or not. bleh.
no car
not having a car royally sucks. you realize how dependent you are on friends, family, or public transportation. friday morning my brother and i took my car in to get it repaired from when the old lady with two walking canes hurt my car. the car place said it would be ready monday. so over the weekend, i had no car. friday i stayed home and did nothing. saturday i went to a funeral but bummed a ride from kay, who went WAY out of her way to get me. i was so appreciative of that. the rest of saturday i didn't do much. i ate a lot though. then chad's friend dan took me to the gym on his way back to SD and then chad picked me up later. sunday i stayed home all day. i felt bad about asking chad to drive me to SD for rachel's wedding shower. his car is having problems. then this morning, fran took me to work and is going to take me to get my car this afternoon. it sure as heck better be ready. for what was wrong with it, it shouldn't take that long to fix.Last week, "Police asked for the public's help Sunday in solving a freeway shooting that claimed a Fontana man's life over the weekend. Jake Tuason, 26, died just after midnight Sunday -- almost 12 hours after authorities found him in cardiac arrest in his smashed Subaru on the Costa Mesa (55) Freeway. Police thought it was a simple car accident until Western Medical Center staff in Santa Ana found a bullet in Tuason's head." As it would turn out, the victim was GB's brother. I know that being at the funeral for GB was the most I could do for him but I felt like I didn't do enough. How do you comfort someone who lost a brother?
been a while
well... today is a rather slow day compared to the ones i've been having for the past two weeks. I kind of miss how busy it was but don't miss that it was all stuff for tax time preparation. i saw The Pacifier on friday. it was cool! it was quite the entertaining movie. people have already laughed at me for saying that I saw it. what's wrong with that movie i ask you? nothing! it was good! oh ok... so i hungout with my friend Friday night and somehow people are saying it was a date. how do you clarify other than asking, if it was a date? i didn't think it was a date and i don't THINK my friend thought it was a date. we don't hangout that often. in fact, the last time i hungout with him was sometime last year when i still lived in anaheim. now what? do i need to clarify that it wasn't a date? then i'd just feel stupid and i'm sure he'd feel like i was jumping to conclusions. forget it. i'm just leavin it as is.
meant to be?
is there such a thing as a sign? or do people read too much into occurences in their lives? i'm beginning to doubt whether or not i'm meant to go to grad school at this particular moment in time. the first time i took my GMAT back in december i had the flu. needless to say i did poorly. this second time around, i studied a lot and i did everything i could to ensure that i remained healthy. then the sunday before the test, i wake up and get ready to start studying when i come down with incredibly bad shivering and a high fever which prompted me to go to the ER where i spent the entire day. as it would turn out, i had a kidney infection. ok, i think, this won't be a problem since my test isn't until thursday. BUT then i get my antibiotics. i read the side-effects, not too pleasant but i am not worried since i rarely get side effects from antibiotics. think again! this time i got 4 of the 5 side effects including headaches and nausea. so come test day, i'm still on the antibiotics and still feeling crappy. once again, i did poorly.i submitted my application anyway and this has turned out to be a $610 experience. with everything that has happened, am i meant to go to grad school? i guess i'll just wait and see.
