sleepy
this weekend was fun and should have been really relaxing but this absolute feeling of sleepiness has descended upon me and i cannot shake it as of yet. thus far i've had 2 cups of coffee and i feel no affect from it. eyes are doing some mega drooping action. i must have a weird expression on my face right now 'cause a guy in my office asked if i ate something sour. that's no good. i know that, in general, girls tend to overanalyze or over-think certain types of situations. i am no exception. the thing is, how do you stop doing that? not only is it annoying, in a sense, you end up sabotaging yourself.
chivalry vs. expectations
forgot about something...there was a rather heated debate the other day between my coworkers. we were talking about first dates and expectations. one guy does not believe in paying for a first date nor does he even believe in asking a girl out first. he said asking a girl out is expected of him so he doesn't. another girl and i said that a guy should ask a girl out because we think more traditionally. we also said that while we don't expect a guy to pay for the first date, we're surprised when he doesn't. the guys said that if a guy does pay for the first date then he will have certain expectations of the girl (now your mind can think in the gutter). the thing is, the majority of guys/girls do not simply ask a person out on a "date" but to "hangout." unless it's clarified beforehand, one of the ways that a lot of girls figure out if it's a date, is if the guy pays for the dinner (or whatever it is they are doing). ok... at first i was labeling it chivalry, that is, until a friend told me that chivalry goes back to the days of knights. knights do not, in fact, fit the modern day definition of chivalry because they just took what they want, raped, and pillaged... or something to that effect. i may change my terminology later but for now, i think everyone knows what i mean.
today
i worked until 9 pm last night... in corona! at least i played golf for 2 hours during the afternoon. :) yesterday, i played golf with my coworker/friend. except for 2 holes where i made MAJOR mistakes, it was decent. On hole 4, I didn't expect to hit my 7 iron so beautifully (and yes, it was quite beautiful) and as a consequence hit it WAY past the green where my chipping sucked so i got a stupid 8 on a par 4. On hole 8, i hit it into a sand trap and it took me THREE tries to get out of it and got a stupid 10 on a par 4. the highlights included getting par on a par 3 with the best hit of my life off a 5 iron and getting a bogey on a par 5 that i usually get quadruple-duple-duple (not a word but you get the point) bogey on. anyway, while we were playing, i told him about that guy from the party saturday. he said it could be a couple of things and just to make sure this guy isn't interested, i should call him again. that way i'll know if he doesn't call back then it really isn't anything. i have a terribly strong compulsion to get to know him and it's irritating. i ended up calling last night after i got off work and left a message. ce la vie (sp?).
tuesday
tuesday is supposed to be good because it means that monday is over. but this morning i woke up groggy and not wanting to get to work. i am in desperate need of a wake me up. i think i'll visit nomar in a bit. speaking of which, he is the new manager at starbucks on main/macarthur!!! sweet. i have a ton of little stacks of work not only on my desk, but on my side table too. i'm looking at it thinking, what the heck? how did all that get there? then i remembered that i spent 2 hours looking for a contract my boss was asking for only to be told AFTER the 2 hours of searching that there wasn't a contract after all. i could have been working on those stupid little stacks!!!i wonder if it means you're boring if all you do is eat, go to work, go to the gym, read, and go to sleep. lately i've felt quite boring but i haven't the slightest inclination to change my habits. is it wrong to say that i want some male companionship right now? and get your minds out of the gutter, all of you!
weekend happenings
this past saturday i went to a "Last Call" party in HB at a house that has been hosting parties for the last 5 years or so. it was great to see so many people, especially since i don't often get to see them. i found out about another wedding that i'll be going to in august. That brings my august wedding count to 3. THREE!! in one month!! then a friend is moving to Connecticut for grad school and one to Portland for a job. there have been a lot of changes since the day francis, laurent, albart, neil, edmund, and the mystery roommate moved into that house. i remember helping albart look for that place and the moving in. crazy. i love hugs. absolutely love them. i got some great ones on saturday. i hate it when people give half assed hugs. those suck.thanks jay... here goes.Total volume of music files on computer:Um... am I supposed to know this?The last cd I bought:black eyed peas... i think.Song playing right:Bring Me to Life - Evenesence Five songs I listen to a lot, or really like:1. mina and danny
Congratulations to Mina and Danny!!Their wedding was beautiful and Mina looked absolutely gorgeous. I felt kind of bad because I was an usher but I didn't know what time to get there. I got there 20 minutes to 2 but most were seated by that time. At least I still helped with communion but even that was iffy. I didn't know when to go or where to go. I've never done that before!! Kind of funny that I didn't know what was going on. I even did guest check-in at the reception and I didn't know I was doing that. I didn't know Noreen was there until communion while I was ushering. Someone started singing and I thought, gosh, that sounds an awful lot like Noreen. I looked over and there she was singing... awesome singing too. The reception was a lot of fun. There was a unique spin on the ringing of the little bells/clanging on dinner glasses to get the newlywed couple to kiss. When that happened, the DJ chose a slip of paper from a jar she had filled with couple's names and that couple would demonstrate a kiss that mina and danny had to copy. The funniest one by far was Jay and Cicely, however staged that was... *wink wink*. I found it odd when I found out Dorothy and Glenn weren't in there so I added their name and made them go after Jay and Cicely... I mean... Ray did. A lot of people were there that I haven't seen in a while and it was great to see them. The dancing was good and thank gracious there was a kick ass DJ. You know what I hate? Being attracted to someone time and time again when I know nothing is going to happen. BLEH!

Assemblyman Tom Umberg (D-Garden Grove), whose district includes Angel Stadium, said the Angels are fraudulently marketing themselves as a Los Angeles team. In January, the team changed its name to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. The city of Anaheim has sued the team, charging the name violates the stadium lease. Umberg justified legislative intervention by drawing a parallel to warning labels required on orange juice that contains no juice. "This product contains no Los Angeles," Umberg said, drawing chuckles in the hearing room."
who'd have thunk
who'd have thunk? tom cruise and katie holmes? 42 and 26? it could be worse... well, whatever floats their boat. ok, my new theory on engagement rings. i'm the kind of girl that believes engagement rings have great symbolic meaning. i don't necessarily believe that a girl should have a rock the size of Australia or that the guy should follow the rule of thumb of buying a ring equivalent to 2 months salary. it's about what's best for the couple at that time. BUT, the other day i was trying to make my coworker feel better because he just spent a pretty sum on a large rock for his soon to be fiancé. anyway, my idea was that it was ok for him to spend that much because it's a balancing of the scales so to speak. a woman spends on average, let's say $15 a month on feminine products since oh, let's say 14 years old. by the time she is 30, she'll have spent $2,880 on such products and by the time she hits menopause at around 55**, she'll have spent $7,380. guys will never worry about such costs. 'nuff said.(**does not include those girls who begin purchasing at an earlier age, those who end up having theirs for more than the average 5-7 days, those who hit menopause later in life, and pricing adjustments on products)
grey's anatomy
grey's anatomy was so good last night!!! i love that show. i was super tired after a long day at work but there was no way i was going to miss it. i even set my phone alarm in case i fell asleep. i had to work sunday for my regular job and that was unexpected. my boss had an "emergency" and had to extend his trip another 2 days to go play golf in miami, this after playing at augusta national. some emergency! i mean, first of all, who do you know that gets to play at augusta national twice a year anyway?? nobody!
possible?
in what must have been my luckiest traffic day ever, i made miraculous time from irvine to commerce to corona on a friday afternoon. how is this possible? who knows!! i was in irvine at 2:00 pm when i found out i had to drive to commerce to pick up items we needed for a golf tournament on sunday. i arrived in commerce at 2:50 after having taken the 405, 605, 105, and 710 freeways. then i arrived at corona at 4:00 after having taken the 5, 605, and 91. ALL this on a friday!!! i thought for sure it would have taken me several more hours but it did not! i am too cool!!!
