rent a brother
anyone want to rent my brother out for the time being? in a purely innocent, platonic manner, that is. i'm very frustrated/angry with him at the moment. recently, i told him what set me off into a crazy childish tirade, not why i actually had that crazy childish tirade, and he tells the person! he only knew a piece of a story and decided to be a blabbermouth. last night, i asked him why he did that and he got angry. i wasn't even being a bleep about it. i asked him why he tells people what i say and he asked, "what are you talking about?" so i tell him and he couldn't even look at me. he turned his back to me and resumed playing online poker. that made me even more angry. after i told him that i can't trust him to keep things to himself he says, "i don't know why you care about this stupid shit." i guess i expected a little more understanding about the need to vent and a loyalty from my own brother. and chris, if you read this, please do not mention this to him. if he wants to talk to me about it, he will. which means, he will try to gloss over it like it never happened, as usual.Monday, November 28, 2005
long weekend
the weekend was supposedly long but it felt extremely short. this week is gonna be a drag.turkey day was great. my brother and i ate at home with the 'rents. i made a pretty good spread for dinner: turkey, garlic mashed potatoes, stuffing, asparagus, salad, cornbread, and crescent rolls. all from scratch, mind you. no boxes or cans for me!
friday was great because not only did i get to go to a ducks game, the ducks won against detroit!! awesome game too! we were up 2-1 and then in the last 1:42 of the 3rd, ducks got a penalty (totally uncalled for and lame --a general theme throughout the game for the dang penalties against the ducks). detroit pulled their goalie so it was 6 on 4 BUT, Hedstrom scored a third goal on the empty net and it wasn't even from across the rink, it was up close and personal. andy mcdonald and teemu selanne each scored a goal. ducks won on sunday against chicago too! please, please, pleeeeeeeeeeease let the ducks realize what they are capable of and please let them use that to kick butt for the remainder of the season!! anyway, i think mcdonald and selanne are great on the same line.
saturday and sunday spent chillin, reading, studying a little, and sleeping a lot. i think the sleep bug has hit people or something. not usually like me to sleep all day. grey's anatomy was great! alex is scum, burke & cristina are cute, meredith needs to eat something, derek is dumb, and the rest are just peachy.

weekend was ok. just had class, hungout with a friend, went to a hockey game, and watched grey's anatomy. grey's was good but i don't like adison. however you spell her name. cheat and then expect to be forgiven? i've never been in the position derek is in but right now, to me? that's unforgiveable ...worthy of azkaban. ok, ok, maybe that's going too far but i don't know that i'd be able to forgive that.

kinda long-winded
ducks management sucks! they traded federov and a fifth round draft pick yesterday, in what can only be described as an extremely blatant salary dump, for two nobodies. hello?!?! it's federov!! who are these two players? NOBODIES! puhleeeeeeeze. my chairman and i were quite upset because we could have kept rucchin AND leclerc AND had money to burn if the ducks traded federov at the beginning of the season!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!on to other things... i very much dislike eating out with friends who short their portion of the bill but do so in a manner that makes you agree to the shortage. make sense? let me explain further... twice i've been to eat with a new friend from school who, at the time of the bill, waits until i put down my cash, then puts down his. here's the tricky part... he'll ask, "do you need anything back?" and i'll, say, "no, i'm good" to avoid being seen as anal or greedy, especially since it's only $1, $2 or $3 that i'd need back. last night, the bill was: salad 9.50, burger 8-add bacon 1.50, lemonade 2.25, fries 1.45. i only had the salad. i put down 15 and the total bill was 24 and change... tax was ~1.70 so that would mean that each person adds ~2.50 to their bill for tax and tip, right? my total would be $12 and his total would be $15.20. WELL, i'm the one who put down 15 and he put down 12. whaaaa??? i just paid for him to have bacon on his burger and for part of his lemonade? i'm allergic to lemonade!
had quite a few discussions on AIM yesterday about dating, specifically, who should pay for what and when. i'm talking strictly dating, not when you're actually in a boyfriend/girlfriend relationship. i've always thought that if a guy asks a girl out, he's pursuing her. even though a girl should be able to pay for herself, the guy has to prove that he's no slouch, especially on the first date. i believe in "the reach" but would hope the guy wouldn't actually let me pay for him and i'd definitely buy the coffee, ice cream, or the snacks at the movie theatre. i've had varying responses... one guy said the same thing, one guy said that the girl should always pay to prove she's not a gold-digger, another guy said that he would pay for the first date but then expect the girl to carry her weight for any subsequent date, another guy said he would pay but would like to see "the reach," another guy said that he would pay for dinner but would hope for the girl to pick up the after dinner tab (e.g. coffee, ice cream, etc.), and yet another guy said that he would never let a girl pay. is there a right way and a wrong way?

I'm bored...
you can take this one if you're bored! Are you destined to be single?
Your score = 65
What does your score mean?
When it comes to the dating game, you're a happy medium. You don't necessarily go out of your way to hook your claws into a mate, but you do send out enough signals that you're available. Depending on your answers to the test questions, you either have your limits about how far you'll go to meet Mr./Ms. Right (approaching someone in the grocery aisle or putting a personal ad, for example), or maybe you don't want to come across as desperate. Another possibility is that romance and dating are just not a priority or something that you want to force; you'd rather let it come to you naturally. Whatever the case, your approach is perfectly fine as long as you are satisfied with the direction of your love life. If, however, you wish there were a little more action in your Saturday nights, why not take some of the steps mentioned in the test? Many people meet lifetime partners in classes, by being set up or through ads. If that's what you'd like to do, there's no shame in it.

don't be a doormat
definition of wuss:n: 1. a person who is physically weak and ineffectual; 2. a person regarded as weak or timid and especially as unmanly
~if you have an opinion that you believe strongly in, stand by it.
~if you have a problem in a team that is bothering you to the point of frustration, tell the team. do not tell one member of the team and most importantly, don't ask that team member to keep it a secret. what's the point?
~if you feel that your voice is not being heard opt for a different approach so that you are. raising your voice is ineffectual.
~if you want to learn how to be an effective manager timidity, a lack of confidence, inability to persuade, and a lack of conviction will not help you.
~do not be a doormat where everyone can step on you and rub their feet all over you and expect others to automatically know when there is a problem.
~do not argue for one thing and step back the second there is a bit of conflict.
~some people are not meant to write. live with it.
how'd i do, joe? i tried to write this post the way we talked about but it didn't quite work out, did it?

from cicely
now I am going to turn paranoid that people are going to take advantage of me.You are 7.94% jealous!
For this test, the average jealousy percentage is 35.54%. 447821 people have taken this test to date.
This percentage means that :
•You are not at all jealous.
•In fact, you are possibly too trusting.
•You seem too non-chalant about social situations.
•This will possibly present a problem, as people are prone to take advantage of you.
fun
i am glad, much to my dismay, that i called kay back on saturday night, despite being made fun of a disproportionate amount by kay, dexie, pia, and lovette! we can say for certain that nothing will happen with he-who-shall-not-be-named no matter how similar the situation may be to yours. i honestly haven't laughed that much in a long time so it was great to be around everyone. :) i miss times like that so thanks millions!! it was the perfect end to my day.Saturday, November 05, 2005

catch up
last night, after a team meeting for school, i met up with dorothy to go to noreen's cousin's birthday bbq. his name is brian and he is pretty. is that just wrong to say a guy is pretty?i finally got the chance to see noreen, whom i haven't seen since mina and danny's going away dealio. she is so happy in her new marriage. it's awesome to see and she deserves it!! i think noreen is the type of person that just by being around her, you want to be a nicer person. it's a unique quality to have and not many do.
dorothy and i talked about a bunch of different things. it's funny how much she and i are alike. it is the reason why our personalities clashed in the beginning but i never wanted to admit that. i always figured it had to be something else. be quiet kay. i know you're laughing.
