difficult
i think i made a decision that was best for me but in the process deeply hurt someone i love. i can't reverse the decision because that wouldn't be right for either of us. i can't help but to feel incredibly sad for what i've done.

my 2003 honda accord coupe ex has experienced permanent transmission failure. in other words, my transmission, and thus my car, has died. :(
i was driving home after work when i experienced a problem while accelerating. i don't know what speed i was at but it just sounded like i was revving in neutral. i took my foot off the gas, and accelerated, again. i thought i'd call my mechanic the next day to see if it was a major problem. well, i got onto the freeway (thank God i only get on the freeway for one exit), and i accelerated, however, the second my car hit 40 mph, the rpms stuck at 3, my car started decelerating, and it sounded like i was revving my engine in neutral. i took my foot off the gas, tried to accelerate but could not drive past 20 mph without the same problem occurring. i exited, and drove home while people honked at me. jeez, people! my hazards were on!!!
i had my car towed to my mechanic on saturday morning, and he diagnosed transmission failure. upon his recommendation, i called american honda to see if they would pay 75 or 100% of the cost to replace the transmission out of "goodwill." american honda stated that i needed a dealership to diagnose the problem so i had my car towed to the honda dealership down the street from my mechanic. they diagnosed "permanent transmission failure." i'm currently talking with a case manager at american honda to see if this may be accomplished. my mechanic faxed him my car maintenance history, yesterday, and i'm waiting for a call back. otherwise, my mechanic charges $2400 and honda costa mesa charges $3800. either way, that is a big ouch!
